At present, the academic community mainly focuses on the application of cultural symbols themselves and contemporary art. Cultural symbols are applied to specific art fields, but few scholars study the relationship between the two, especially the unclear boundary between cultural symbols and contemporary art application in this topic. By understanding the evolution of cultural symbols, we found that it is the result of the combined action of social, cultural, material and other factors. However, there is a contradiction between the development and application of art itself, that is, the boundaries between art and application are blurred, which has an impact on the retention of art and the application of contemporary art. By analyzing the development of art and exploring its influencing factors, this article provides a theoretical basis for alleviating the contradiction between art and application. Combining the popular cases of “Nezha”, it tries to provide a new perspective and feasible suggestions on cultural retention and artistic application paths.
