This article explores the deep relationship between the ecological environment of Honghu Lake and shell carving art, analyzes the supply of ecological resources to shell carving materials and their inspiration in artistic creation, and studies the role and contribution of shell carving art in ecological protection and local economic development. As the largest freshwater lake in Hubei Province, Honghu Lake has abundant natural resources and a good ecological environment, which provides support for local fisheries and agriculture, and lays the foundation for the development of shell carving technology. Honghu freshwater shell carving showcases ecological aesthetics through its unique natural materials and traditional techniques. The works often reflect natural themes such as wetland landscapes, flora and fauna, and combine local culture and artistic traditions to form a unique artistic style. The research results indicate that the ecological environment of Honghu Lake is complementary to the art of shell carving. Shell carving not only relies on ecological resources, but also plays an important role in cultural dissemination and economic development. The conclusion points out that promoting the inheritance and innovation of shell carving art is a keyway to achieve sustainable development of Honghu’s ecology and economy.
