Abstract
This study was conducted to respond to the need for learning resources that strengthen students’ sense of nationalism while preserving local cultural wisdom in Bali. The research aimed to develop a local genius– based nationalism learning resource for senior high school and vocational high school students in Bali Province. The study employed a research and development (R&D) method with samples selected through random and purposive sampling from schools across Bali. Data were collected using interviews and questionnaires, supported by validated instruments, and analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively. The findings show that the developed learning resource consists of several components: (1) front cover, (2) theme and illustration, (3) sub-story introduction, (4) sub-story main content, (5) sub-story conclusion, (6) glossary, (7) author’s biodata, and (8) back cover. The resource is digitally designed and enriched with animations and videos to enhance student engagement. Expert validation confirmed that the product is feasible for classroom use. Practicality tests further revealed highly positive responses, with teachers rating it at an average of 91.39 and students at 91.64, both in the “very good” category. In conclusion, the developed learning resource effectively integrates local genius into the teaching of nationalism and is suitable for high school and vocational high school contexts. Its digital format increases accessibility and interactivity, making it relevant to 21st-century learning needs. The study implies that similar approaches can be applied in other regions of Indonesia to promote nationalism through local cultural values while supporting character education in school.
