Abstract
Schizophrenia is a chronic mental disorder that significantly impairs cognitive, emotional, and social functioning, resulting in a lower quality of life (QoL) compared to the general population. This study employed a systematic literature review (SLR) guided by the Narrative Synthesis method, analyzing ten peer-reviewed articles published between 2018 and 2024. The objective was to identify the main factors influencing QoL in individuals with schizophrenia and to explore strategies for improvement. The findings indicate that QoL in schizophrenia patients is generally low and shaped by multiple determinants, including depression, negative symptoms, treatment adherence, self-stigma, family burden, and socioeconomic conditions. Improvement remains challenging as it requires multidimensional interventions. Consequently, enhancing QoL for schizophrenia patients necessitates comprehensive approaches that combine pharmacological treatment, psychosocial interventions, life skills education, and family involvement to support functional recovery and long-term well-being..
