In today’s society, oral English proficiency is of great value to Chinese college students in terms of their future career development and international communication. However, numerous studies have shown that Chinese college students have different degrees of anxiety about oral English. In this study, after reading a large amount of literature, the author organizes and summarizes the relevant content. Finally, the author analyzes the reasons for Chinese college students’ oral English anxiety, like personality, insufficient level of basic language skills, past learning experiences, inadequate psychological adjustment, and the influence of the environment. Based on these reasons, the author proposes different kinds of ways to alleviate the oral English anxiety, such as psychological adjustment, different teaching methods, and learning resources utilization, so as to provide references for college students who are eager to improve their oral fluency and for English teachers to teach with more appropriate methods. It is helpful to promote the development of Chinese college students’ oral English.
