Stylistic practices in a school community: uses of the French negative particle 'ne' in a nursery school. This article focuses on stylistic practices in a school community through the use of negative 'ne' in adults and children in the preschool context. Thirteen adults and 61 children aged 2-6 years old were registered for three years. Our analysis uses oral ecological data with 640 000 transcribed words (428 100 for pupils and 210 241 for adults). The results show that children use very few 'ne' particles and that teachers stylistically adapt their uses to their interlocutors. The stylistic practices used by the teachers is also more formal than the teachers' assistants.
