Political Hoaxes on Social Media Before the 2024 Regional Elections
This study aims to map hoaxes related to the 2024 Regional Elections by collecting and analyzing data from Twitter. Data collection was conducted from May 15 to July 12, and will resume from August 1 to September 15, 2024. These periods were chosen because the occurrence of hoaxes is expected to intensify as the elections approach. However, due to the need to complete the research report, data collection cannot be conducted in October, one month before the 2024 elections. The method used includes data mining and sentiment analysis using NodeXL and Asigta applications. The results of the study show the network pattern of hoax dissemination on Twitter. From the network analysis, it was found that a number of Twitter accounts with high degree centrality significantly influence the spread of hoaxes related to the 2024 elections. Community clusters formed show a tendency to collectively reinforce false views. The majority sentiment of tweets related to election hoaxes tends to be negative, with much false information being published to influence public opinion.
