This study examines the socio-labor and economic behavior of youth within the framework of digital society formation, reflecting their life goals and value orientations. The research aims to assess student employment trends and socio-economic disparities across regions in Kazakhstan. A pilot sociological survey was conducted to refine the research instrument—a questionnaire—through testing among students of “Management” and “Public and Local Administration” at Esil University. The final survey utilized stratified sampling and included 1,260 students from universities and colleges in the Zhambyl and Mangistau regions, ensuring representativeness. Results indicate a gender-balanced sample with a slight predominance of female respondents (53.4% in Zhambyl, 55.9% in Mangistau). The majority were aged 19-20, with a smaller proportion over 23 years old. A key finding reveals regional differences in student employment: 60.6% of Zhambyl students work while studying, compared to only 27.2% in Mangistau. These disparities reflect distinct socio-economic conditions influencing students’ educational and labor engagement. The study addresses a gap in understanding regional inequalities in student workforce participation and its implications for education policy. Findings contribute to discussions on youth labor integration and policy development, emphasizing the need for tailored support systems based on regional socio-economic contexts.
