Abstract
Personality traits have become increasingly popular among young people, with many researchers trying to come up with methods to test personality. However, personality traits related to social anxiety (SA) were still under-researched. This research gathered data from two directions, investigating how the Big-Five personality traits and Type D personality are associated with SA. Most research was published within the past 10 years, with one piece from 2006. The findings suggested by each research were compared, with the aim of finding out how personality traits could be related to SA. The result showed that individuals with a lower extraversion score and a higher neuroticism score were exposed to a higher risk of experiencing SA. Based on the research investigating how the Type D personality trait and SA could be related, individuals who had been categorised as Type D were at a higher risk of experiencing SA.
