Résumé

Cette recherche présente des expérimentations autour de générations d’images par IA. Elle tente de disséquer les mécanismes et les apports de tels artefacts en situation de conception architecturale, et notamment en situation pédagogique. En premier lieu, il s’agit de déconstruire les critiques éthiques et déontologiques adressées aux IA afin d’en saisir les enjeux épistémologiques, esthétiques et techniques pour la conception. Dans un deuxième temps, nous nous intéresserons aux mécanismes impliqués par cette délégation de l’idéation à une intelligence dite artificielle en termes de verbalisation, condensation d’une intention plastique et figurative par fusion formes lexicales et picturales évacuant le fond. La fiction et l’échantillonnage en tant que possibles protocoles d’individuation et de rationalisation seront alors abordés. Enfin, la notion d’étrangeté en tant que composante de cet hyper-réalisme intrinsèque aux images d’IA sera convoquée sous un éclairage théorique et philosophique.

Abstract

This research presents experiments with AI-based image generation. It attempts to dissect the mechanisms and contributions of such artifacts in architectural design situations, and particularly in pedagogical situations. First, we deconstruct the ethical and deontological criticisms levelled at AIs in order to grasp their epistemological, aesthetic and technical implications for design. Secondly, we'll look at the mechanisms involved in delegating ideation to so-called artificial intelligence, in terms of verbalization, condensation of a plastic and figurative intention through fusion of lexical and pictorial forms, and the evacuation of content. Fiction and sampling as possible protocols of individuation and rationalization will then be addressed. Finally, the notion of strangeness as a component of the hyper-realism intrinsic to AI images will be examined from a theoretical and philosophical perspective.
