Teaching media is an important alternative for enhancing learners' understanding of concepts and theories in education. In the context of BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia untuk Penutur Asing), teaching media is essential for improving the Indonesian language skills of foreign learners. However, the lack of teaching media that is integrated with local culture necessitates that instructors develop appropriate supplementary materials. Therefore, this study aims to present alternative culturally-based teaching media that can enhance the speaking skills of foreign learners while also introducing Madurese culture, particularly its maritime elements. By integrating aspects of Madurese culture through teaching media, learners not only improve their language proficiency but also understand the use of language within relevant cultural contexts. The development of culturally-based teaching media that reflects local characteristics, such as those of Madurese culture, is crucial for creating a comprehensive and authentic learning experience for BIPA learners.
