Projecting Time: Architectural Projection as a Mediating Practice in Adaptive Reuse Pedagogy

Abstract
This paper investigates architectural projection supporting adaptive reuse and urban regeneration through circular design and sensory approaches. Rather than treating projection as purely representational, the study frames it as an operative process enabling architects to interpret existing conditions, anticipate transformation, and communicate spatial narratives. The research draws on the Horizon Europe WoodStock Project and COST Action CitySenZ. The results demonstrate that projection mediates between past, present, and future by linking material continuity, environmental strategies, and sensory experience. The study argues that projection is a mediating methodology through which adaptive reuse negotiates temporal continuity, circularity, and embodied heritage experience
