Choosing global pathways: A critical examination of pedagogical appeal and economic rationale in international education

Abstract
In the context of globalization and educational diversification, an increasing number of students and families in China tend to consider the option of international education pathways. This paper explores the key factors driving this strategic choice. The analysis focuses on the perceived advantage as the reasons for people who choose international education from different aspects, including student-centered classroom dynamics that promote active engagement and cross-cultural competence, an inquiry-based learning cycle that fosters deep understanding and self-regulation, and advanced assessment system that values critical thinking and practical application and the purpose of international education which emphasis on liberal and personalized development, aiming to cultivate autonomous, globally-minded individuals. By applying the cost-benefit analysis for both individual and society, although there are significant return through international education, the decision still involves substantial financial investment. The paper concludes that choosing international education reflects a pursuit of all-rounded skills and personalized growth, but also highlighting the necessity for fully-informed and carefully-considered decision-making.
