Abstract
In the information age, short-video application has become deeply integrated into the daily life of college students. Adopting the Five-Factor Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ) as the theoretical foundation, this research explored how mindfulness traits relate to college students’ habitual use of short videos. Using convenience sampling, a questionnaire survey was conducted, and 136 valid samples were collected for correlation analysis and path analysis. Results indicated that: (1) The overall level of mindfulness was not significantly correlated with habitual SVU, whereas different mindfulness dimensions showed divergent correlations; (2) The non‑reactivity dimension of mindfulness significantly and positively predicted the overall level of habitual SVU; (3) Different mindfulness dimensions exerted distinct predictive effects on specific dimensions of habitual SVU. These findings suggest that mindfulness does not globally inhibit automatic SVU, and only specific mindfulness dimensions serve a de‑automatization protective function. Thus, interventions targeting undergraduates ought to prioritize. The cultivation of the ability to be aware of present-moment emotions and the development of non-judgmental self-acceptance.
