La sociologie pour préparer au monde du travail ? récit d'une expérience d'enseignement auprès d'élèves-ingénieurs

Résumé

L'enseignement de la sociologie peut concourir à préparer les étudiants au monde du travail. Afin d'en attester, nous nous appuyons sur une expérience pédagogique auprès d'élèves-ingénieurs. Un double statut de la sociologie est de ce fait mis en évidence. D'une part, la sociologie, ici enseignée dans une Université de Technologie, s'inscrit dans une socialisation anticipatrice aux situations de travail et aux relations qui s'y nouent. D'autre part, cette réflexion sur l'utilité d'un enseignement de sociologie s'accompagne d'un rejet sans appel d'une conception utilitariste, qui instrumentaliserait la sociologie en la transformant en un savoir comportemental et managérial. Une voie médiane est ainsi suggérée.

Abstract

Sociology education can prepare students for labour world. In order to prove it, we will based our argumentation on a teaching experience towards students in an engineering school. At first sight, this idea seems strange or corrupting for sociology, which had not originally this purpose. It also seems to hide managerialist, behaviorist or utilitarian thought, which is omniscient today. Consequently, a double standing of sociology is emphasized. On the one hand, sociology could engage a forward-looking socialization to the labour world and also to the relationships which are tied on this place. On the other hand, our reflection about utility of sociology in an University of Technology goes along with a reject without appeal of an utilitarian thought, which would pervert sociology and tranform it into a managerial and behaviorist know-how. A middle-way is indeed proposed.
