Un modèle pour l’étude des nominations émergentes. Notion de repérage pour saisir les modalités d’ajustement sémantique et discursif

Résumé

L’article présente une esquisse d’un modèle linguistique destiné à guider l’interprétation des nominations émergentes, avant de détailler un procédé particulier, l’ajustement, saisi à travers différents modes de repérage sémantico-logique. Partant de l’idée selon laquelle plus une catégorie est instable ou incertaine, plus elle a besoin d’être située par rapport à des catégories stables ou mieux établies, nous proposons de mobiliser un réseau de relateurs permettant de déterminer les rapports qu’une catégorie donnée est amenée à entretenir avec des catégories « repères » (englobantes, soeurs…). Le parcours interprétatif proposé est illustré par les emplois de deux expressions sémantiquement et référentiellement instables musulman modéré et radicalisation.

Resumen

A model for the study of emerging naming. The concept of indicators to identify the modalities of semantic and discursive adjustment. The article starts presenting an outline of a linguistic model that aims to guide the interpretation of emerging naming, and then details the specific process of adjustment recognized through different modes of semantic-logical identification. Starting from the idea that the more unstable or uncertain a category is, the more it needs to be situated in relation to stable or more established categories, we propose a network of relators so as to determine the links that a given category is meant to establish with “landmark categories” (encompassing, sister...). We suggest an interpretative itinerary illustrated by the uses of two semantically and referentially unstable expressions, i.e. “moderate Muslim” and “radicalization”.
