Des traces écrites aux discours des enseignants : quelles sont les fonctions de la correction des copies ?
From the written record to teachers' discourse: what are the functions of copies correction?

Dans cet article, nous cherchons à mieux appréhender un geste professionnel en tension : la correction des copies d’élèves. L’analyse croisée de textes d’élèves et d’entretiens menés auprès de professeurs de français exerçant au collège mettent au jour les fonctions que peut reve^tir cette activité, bien éloignée des conceptions selon laquelle elle serait utile aux élèves dans le cadre de leur apprentissage de l’écriture de textes.
Abstract
In this article, we aim a better understanding of teaching professional activity: the correction of student texts. Cross-analysis of student texts and interviews with middle-school French teachers reveal the functions that this activity can take on, far beyond the conceptions according to which it is useful to students as they learn to write texts.
